Second Grade Plans Out Perfect Snowy Adventures

kids smiling at classroom table Cheryl Pandolfi's second graders dreamed up ideal snow days as they peered wistfully out of their classroom windows this week. They brainstormed activities, developed ideas, sequenced their story, and incorporated transition words to write stories about their wintry adventures.

"I'm putting all my big ideas together to make one big story. First, I write my ideas down. Then I pick an idea to start first, like putting M&M's in my pancakes," said Maeve. "I feel happy that I can write my own stories. I couldn't do that last year."

"I made a whole list of my ideas first before writing my story," said Amelia. "I'm going to make a snowman with my sister using a scarf, a hat, a carrot nose, and then put earrings on it. Then we'll go inside to make hot cocoa to warm up."

"My perfect snow day is having a snowball fight with my brother," said Samantha. She hopes 100 inches of snow will fall this weekend to build an entire house out of snow.

"I want a lot, but not too much so we can still play football," said Andy, who dreams of piling snow onto his trampoline and jumping in it.

"My perfect snow day is snuggling with my mom after playing outside," said Bennett.
